BUILDING A COMMUNITY WE CAN ALL BE PROUD OF

CAPITAL PROJECTS

The Millican Ogden Community Association (MOCA) community building is nearly 70 years old. For years, MOCA has received requests for accessible spaces, long-term tenant storage areas, and updated amenities. The building's life cycle requirements also outline these issues and more. Inquiries about the use of the Lower Hall for meetings and social gatherings are regularly received. Since the beginning of 2023, MOCA has been undertaking to modernize the community hall and address all the life-cycle requirements for both the building and grounds. The ultimate goal is to modernize the community building, improve energy efficiency, and reopen the lower level for regular use. Improvement of the office areas regularly used by the community staff will also be addressed.

MOCA operates the Jack Setter's Arena on behalf of the City of Calgary. In April 2024, new dasher boards were installed around the ice pad. The MOCA Board is planning to modernize the arena's safety features, such as the fire alarm system. Updating various other parts of the arena facilities, including energy efficiency, is a longer-term goal for MOCA.

INVESTORS

In 2015, MOCA was fortunate enough to receive a considerable donation from the former Ogden Legion Branch #154, which helped spearhead the capital projects. MOCA is thankful to another regular donor; the Calgary Southridge Lions Club.

Other donors helping to make it happen include; the Province of Alberta: Community Facility Enhancement Program, the City of Calgary: Capital Conservation Grant, the City of Calgary: Area Enhancement Program, private community donors, MOCA staff, and all the volunteers who are graciously donating their time and effort for these undertakings.

You too can invest in MOCA’s future by donating and/or attending a fundraising event.
